Born in Virginia and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, Simone W. Morton arrived in Atlanta, Georgia to attend the Georgia Institute of Technology.
There, she met her future husband, Danny, who tutored her through calculus and chemistry. One of her proudest accomplishments was her initiation into Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. through the Xi Alpha Chapter. She was a charter member of Henry County Alumnae Chapter (www.hcacdst.org). Simone and her family worships at Wesley Chapel UMC.
Having “gotten out” (in GT’s vernacular – graduated) with a B.S. Industrial Management, she married, raised two sons both of whom are graduates of Georgia Tech, and trailed her husband's six corporate moves.
Looking for an artistic outlet, Simone was introduced to mosaics through the Spruill Center for the Arts. Her first instructor was Kate Anderson. Her current instructor is Janice Schmidt.
By the way, the music is by her brother,
Tyrone L. Washington and his website is:

"The Bassist" is special because it was my gift to my youngest son. Enjoy the video of the making of "The Bassist" - it highlights the stages from inspiration/inception to the completion of this mosaic artwork.
